Mary M. Sullivan RN, DNP, ANP-BC, CDE is a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist and Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California in San Francisco. She was the American Association Diabetes Educator of the Year for 2010. Recognizing the diabetes epidemic and the growing need for diabetes educators she created the Becoming a Diabetes Educator Workshop for health care professionals who are interested in learning about educating and managing patients with diabetes

She is Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management and is a nationally recognized speaker and advocate, dedicated to improving diabetes care. She is a working educator, currently serving as a Diabetes Program Manager and is an Associate Clinical Professor in the graduate-nursing program at UCSF. As president and founder of Diabetes Educational Services, Beverly is dedicated to optimizing diabetes care through professional education and advocacy.

i Shafer has been a Registered Dietitian at UCSF Medical Center since 1992. She is a certified diabetes educator and specializes in medical nutrition therapy counseling for individuals in the adult and pediatric diabetes clinics as well as the diabetes and pregnancy program. She teaches nutrition classes for individuals with diabetes who attend the UCSF Diabetes Teaching Center workshops. She is an instructor for medical students at UCSF. Sherri has extensive public speaking experience lecturing on the topic of diabetes management, she has written columns for various health websites and is the author of Diabetes Type 2 Complete Food Management Program.
